The Taj Mahal Playing Cards Deck celebrates this rich heritage of the Mughals, and is born out of personal passion of Ritu, our artist, along with her husband Bivas, who travelled to these historic Mughal monuments to gather inspiration for this project.

The Taj Mahal in daylight is nothing short of mesmerising. Bathed in the sun’s glow, its white marble shimmers with a soft radiance that shifts subtly throughout the day—from warm golden hues in the morning to a cooler ivory brilliance by afternoon. The intricate carvings and inlaid gemstones catch the light, revealing the craftsmanship that makes this monument a masterpiece.
The Taj Mahal tuck boxes feature a unique foiling design, where the sky alternates between blue and gold, with the gold being foiled and the blue not. This creates an illusory duotone texture. At different angles, the blue comes through, while at others, the gold does.
The cards of the Taj Mahal deck are intricately illustrated by Ritu of Old Gravity, and the art is inspired by the Mughal miniatures. The motifs are inspired by the intricate and delicate patterns used by the artists from the Mughal period in their architecture, and paintings. The card back presents an elegant, symmetrical floral motif, inspired by the designs found at the magnificent Mughal edifices. The foiled cards emphasise the luxurious and delicate work of the artisans who constructed and decorated the Mughal buildings with subtle and detailed designs, accentuated with real gemstones and gold.
